Snow Day!

Today it snowed! It's about 35 degrees outside, so it's that nice slushy snow. Some of it even stuck to the shrubberies and cars. I had to go to the grocery store, and once I got in the car it was so enjoyable to be driving in the snow/slush that I went to the store across town just so I could drive for longer. Add to that the people of El Paso, not being accustomed to driving in rain let alone snow, and I enjoyed a pleasant drive down the freeway at 35mph. The traffic signs on the freeway all had messages like, "Watch for water on the roadway". That's the kind of place this is, a place where water on roads is so uncommon they have to warn you it's there. As if I didn't notice that I had to use my wipers for the first time since September.

I can't say as I ever thought I would get excited about snow. But it has been over a year since I've seen any, and it was such a nice snow that I had to appreciate it. Plus it wasn't cold out, which is the best part. It's not that I hate snow back home, it's the subzero temperatures and arctic blasts. So today I took a little moment to appreciate the tiny bit of home that came to visit me here in hell.

Which begs the question, if it snows in El Paso does that mean hell froze over? Hm.
