The Jake is allergic to something. We don't know what it is, but he's had hives off and on for almost two weeks. I brought him into the doctor and he said it's definitely something Jacob is eating, but isn't sure what. So he's doing a blood test, which will take another two weeks to get back. It's lengthy, but apparently will tell us exactly what he is allergic to.
I suspect the peanut. He was eating peanuts on Sunday and the hives were really bad. So, no more peanuts. He cleared up-- almost. Did you know that the peanut is not really a nut? It's a member of the legume family, whic is why you can be allergic to peanuts and not other kinds of nuts. Of course, it also means that you can be allergic to soybeans and green beans if you are allergic to peanuts. I feel that if he is allergic to legumes, it is possibly the most inconvenient allergy he could have. Except maybe wheat. But between peanuts and soy, the legume is everywhere. Not to mention that the peanut allergy is known for its extreme reactions.
Besides, legume is one of the coolest words ever. I don't actually know if it's pronounced le-GOOM or leg-YOOM, but either way I really enjoy throwing it into a conversation (I say it the first way, and with flair.) I guess you could also say LEG-yoom. I don't.
Damn you, peanut!
