Harold is our Maine Coon mix kitty. She (yes, Harold is a 'she') was rescued as a kitten from a tree after a rainstorm in 2009. While Harold has the long hair and giant paws of a Maine Coon, she's currently about 11 pounds and seems to be done growing. And despite being approximately 50% fur, she doesn't really shed all that much-- but she comes with a Furminator to keep things under control.
She's really a very nice kitty. Harold loves the older kids, especially Jacob (though is not a fan of Wyatt) and will come sit in our laps for snuggle time. She is fixed and has all her shots, has never had any health problems, and scratches on her scratching post. Harold is sensitive to excessively smelly things, however, and will not use scented cat litter of any kind. She is an indoor cat, and doesn't try to escape. I don't know if she would like being outside or not. She doesn't seem inclined to chase mice though, so she doesn't fall into the "useful" category.
It's hard to take 'good' pictures of a cat. They always look a little evil. But as far as cats go, Harold is nice to have around. She is not terribly fond of large dogs, but I think that's only because ours try to eat her-- when they leave her alone, she doesn't mind them. She will also play with smaller dogs. I don't know how she feels about other cats, since we don't take her on playdates :)
Harold is looking for either a temporary or forever home. We really like her and will miss her a lot!
