Holly

Holly came to our family via Centex Boxer Rescue shortly after we moved to Killeen three years ago. She is now about four years old and is the sweetest, most loving dog you could hope to meet. Holly is a "people person"-- she wants nothing more than to be near her people all the time. She is very gentle and is well behaved around kids of all ages. While she doesn't know any formal commands besides "sit" and "outside", Holly is very eager to please and listens very well. She likes to go for walks, but is not a high energy dog and does fine without daily exercise. She doesn't know how to play fetch and only occasionally plays with toys, but she does like chewing on bones out in the yard. She does not chew, dig, or jump, but doesn't like being left alone outside for very long.

While Holly is very obedient and crate trained, she doesn't like (and isn't used to) being left alone for long periods of time. The ideal family for Holly would have someone around most of the time for her to love on. She is the kind of dog that loves to lay around by your feet and follow you from room to room. She is a bit of a face licker, but she is so full of love she has to let it out somehow! Her stub of a tail wags impossibly fast when she sees her people and she is truly a wonderful family dog.

However, Holly does have one flaw that has us searching for a new "forever" home for her. She cannot go to a home with cats or small dogs. Ideally she would be the only pet in the house though she would probably be okay with another large male dog. Holly has a strong predatory instinct and has been desperately trying to eat our cat for the last two years. She has also attacked small dogs. She is well behaved on a leash and will not try to run after animals she sees outside, but if she is off the leash it's important not to leave her alone with a small dog.

Holly is just the bestest kind of dog and I love her to death. If I weren't the kind of person who liked to have lots of pets, I would never dream of giving her up. I would love to see her go to a family that has little kids for her to love and protect (well, from cats anyway.)
